An Update + Ongoing Resources for You
Hello Everyone,
It’s me, Katherine Spearing, founder of Tears of Eden. I’ve been running this organization for the past six years with the support of some truly stellar board members and volunteers of all kinds.
After six years, the time has come for my role to shift. I still deeply care about the community of spiritual abuse survivors, and I’m choosing to direct my energy almost exclusively toward supporting survivors through one-on-one client work.
So what does this mean for Tears of Eden?
This is an absolutely incredible organization, and there truly is no other one like it. We serve a very specific demographic—people who have experienced abuse within evangelicalism—and we provide accessible content for anyone, wherever they may be on their faith journey. We’ve always been committed to creating a space with no agenda for where someone lands on that faith journey.
And after extensive conversations with our Board of Directors, we’ve decided that, for the time being, Tears of Eden will remain open and active online. You will still have access to all of our resources, including the original blog content and the podcast. However, we will not be pursuing any new initiatives or running new support groups at this time.
In order to remain in compliance and keep these resources available, we will continue to fund the website, file annual nonprofit reports, etc. through any donations we receive. We encourage you to continue supporting this work by giving to Tears of Eden.
It really is a unique organization, and we’re so grateful that the website and podcast will continue to be available for survivors.
Your support means so much to us, and we hope you’ll stay connected.
If you’d like to follow along more personally, you can subscribe to my newsletter and connect with me on Instagram, where I continue to talk about trauma and the impact of abuse—because this is my story, too.
And if you’re looking for one-on-one support, you can find more information about my work here.
Two of our board members also work with clients individually—feel free to check out Nikki and Brad’s websites as well.
We are all still deeply passionate about this work, and we’re grateful that these resources will remain available to the public.
Thank you for continuing to share Tears of Eden and its resources with other survivors. We’ve done meaningful work, and we’re incredibly proud of it.
With love,
Katherine Spearing
